A Love Story

There are many types of romances. In the young adult (YA) novel genre, the most common types are known as enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, and love at first sight. My own love story could be seen as the enemies to lovers genre, but my ideas on love are much different than the classic fairytale.

I grew up being taught that love at first sight was magical. It was in the Disney movies, the children’s books, and all the great love stories. I was told that when I meet “the one,” I would know. There was a piece of magic, or soul, or God, that told everyone when they met “the one.”

My own story turned out quite differently. I now see love for what it is - a choice.
